Tantalum is one of the most corrosion resistant metal to be used commonly in the industries at present. One of the reasons for tantalum's extreme corrosion resistant property in aggressive medium is the presence of naturally occurring oxide film on its surface. Tantalum is almost completely immune to attack by acids and liquid metals.
It equals glass in resistance to acids and is inert to practically all organic and inorganic compounds. Tantalum's thermal and electrical conductivity is much more efficient in compared to most metals.
